Annual fee for Asylum Applications

USCIS and Immigration Court (EOIR) are now requiring asylum seekers to pay an annual fee for each year that their application is pending. This fee is currently $102 per application. Please note this is not per person; if one person files an asylum application, and their spouse and children are included as derivatives, they still only need to pay one $102 for the year. .

USCIS and the court are supposed to send a notice to people when they need you to pay the annual asylum fee. If you previously received a notice from USCIS, telling you to pay, but you did not pay yet, please do pay to avoid dismissal of your application.

You can pay the annual fee before you receive notice from the court or USCIS telling you to do so.

If you are in immigration court, you will pay the annual fee here:  https://epay.eoir.justice.gov/index. Be sure to select the ANNUAL asylum fee from the drop down menu, not the 'initial' fee.  Be sure to download the receipt as soon as it appears on the screen; it will not be sent to you.

If you are with USCIS, you will pay the annual fee here: https://my.uscis.gov/accounts/annual-asylum-fee/start/overview.

The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project has more information about these fees here:  https://asaptogether.org/en/new-fees/

Please contact your attorney if you have questions or concerns, and please send your attorney your receipt once you may the fee.
