EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are currently seeking a paralegal and contract immigration attorney.  Please see below for the full job descriptions.

Contract Attorney

McHaffey & Nice, LLC, an immigration firm with 4 attorneys and 4 paralegals, near South Station in Boston, is seeking a full or part-time contract attorney for March through August, though this can be negotiated.  The position will be at least partly remote, at least for the foreseeable future, due to the pandemic.

We offer a collegial work environment and have a diverse clientele.  Qualified candidates will have strong interest in immigration law and be a member of any bar in good standing.  Recent graduates who have taken but not received results of the bar will be considered.

The firm primarily works with individuals applying for asylum and other forms of humanitarian relief, but also represents clients in other immigration matters before Immigration Services and Immigration Court.  The position will be paid commensurate with experience.  The Firm subsidizes commuting expense.

Applicants should have some immigration law experience.  This would be an ideal position for someone looking for more experience in the areas of asylum, removal defense, or family based immigration, or for someone re-entering the workforce.

Applicants must be organized, have attention to detail, have strong communication skills, and be interested in working with clients seeking immigration status.  Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, Arabic, or Haitian Creole, is valued but not required.

Duties will include:

  • Work with clients to prepare immigration applications and affidavits.

  • Work with clients to collect, review, and submit supporting documentation to USCIS and Immigration Court.

  • Prepare clients prior to USCIS interviews and Immigration Court hearings.

  • Communicate promptly and clearly with clients.
