Immigration Paralegal
McHaffey & Nice, LLC, an immigration firm with 4 attorneys and 4 paralegals, near South Station in Boston, is seeking a full-time Paralegal. The position will be partly remote, at least for the foreseeable future.
We offer a collegial work environment and have a diverse clientele. Qualified candidates will have strong interest in immigration law and be a member of any bar in good standing. Recent graduates who have taken but not received results of the bar will be considered.
The firm primarily works with individuals applying for asylum and other forms of humanitarian relief, but also represents clients in other immigration matters before Immigration Services and Immigration Court. The position will be paid commensurate with experience. The Firm subsidizes commuting expense and health insurance is available.
Applicants should be organized, have attention to detail, have strong communication skills, and be interested in working with clients seeking immigration status. Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, Arabic, or Haitian Creole, is highly valued but not required.
Duties will include:

Assisting attorneys with preparing immigration forms.

Working with attorneys to draft affidavits, cover letters, and other written materials.

Collecting and organizing country conditions documents.

Preparing and submitting packages to Immigration Court and to USCIS.

Communicating with clients and government agencies.

Proactively follow up with clients when deadlines and expiration dates are approaching.

Updating and checking the Firm’s case management system to track progress and updates on cases.

Various administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, taking payments, and filing.
